Former NasaTracking Site Cooper's Island Parting words from US Counsul Grace Shelton mentioned that NASA - which operated a tracking station at Cooper's Island for decades - had once again returned to Bermuda with a mobile station to assist the US space programme.She said: "Once again, Bermuda and the US are partners in space. NASA and Bermuda will also work together to create an educational programme in Bermuda."( The Bermuda Sun August 29, 2012) As time progressed, NASA and Bermuda Government worked together to produce a further step. On Nov 5, 2018 a ribbon cutting ceremony took place at the newly renovated Administration Building which replaced the previously mentioned mobile tracking station to something much more suitable and permanent. Mr Sam Scimeni, Director of NASA's International Space Station, and Bill Worbel, Director of NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, led a delegation to Bermuda to officially open the NASA Tracking Station.
