Former NasaTracking Site Cooper's Island

Parting words from US Counsul Grace Shelton mentioned that NASA - which operated a tracking station at Cooper's Island for decades - had once again returned to Bermuda with a mobile station to assist the US space programme. She said: "Once again, Bermuda and the US are partners in space. NASA and Bermuda will also work together to create an educational programme in Bermuda."( The Bermuda Sun August 29, 2012)

As time progressed, NASA and Bermuda Government worked together, advancing to another step. On Nov 5, 2018 a ribbon cutting ceremony took place at the newly renovated Administration Building which proved to be much more comfortable and productive than the previously used mobile station. Mr Sam Scimeni, Director of NASA's International Space Station, and Bill Worbel, Director of NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, led a delegation to Bermuda to officially open the NASA Tracking Station. They were joined by local officials including U.S. Consul General Constance Dierman, Deputy Premier Walter Roban, BTA CEO Kevin Dallas, former Premier Sir John Swan, MP Lawerence Scott and others.
